linuxcncMulti – the multi-channel control on LinuxCNC

Several channels with their own programs, interpreters and path planners, synchronized by wait marks in the real-time part – like Siemens 840D or Fanuc Multi-Path, on the open basis of LinuxCNC. Plus the Operate-style operator panel mchmi, the Siemens program language, synchronized actions and kinematic transformations.

mchmi: DMU 60 with tool changer channel

Try linuxcncMulti online

See the features in action before you decide: registered customers start a simulation of linuxcncMulti in the customer portal – DMU 60 with five axes and tool changer channel, INDEX G200 with three channels, Deckel FP4 retrofit – and use the operator panel mchmi in the browser for 30 minutes. Registration is free; a session needs no installation.

What the multi-channel edition can do

Real channels

N channels, each with its own G-code program, interpreter, task state and path planner. Axes are assigned in the INI and can be exchanged between channels at run time (GET/GETD/RELEASE). Channel 0 behaves exactly like LinuxCNC, existing configurations run unchanged.

Synchronization in the real-time part

Wait marks (WAITM / M90–M93) are evaluated in the servo cycle, with a timeout per channel; INIT/START start programs in partner channels, SETMS selects the master spindle; ASUP and event programs, start-up programs with Z guard.

Siemens program language

R parameters, DEF variables, expressions, jumps, REPEAT, IF/WHILE/FOR/CASE, WORKPIECE blanks; synchronized actions (ID/WHEN/WHENEVER, $A_IN/$A_OUT, command axes, DELDTG, H functions); transformations TRAORI, TRANSMIT, TRACYL from the program.

mchmi – Operate-style operation

Machine control panel, program manager and editor, tool management with magazines and buffer places, work offsets, diagnosis with alarm log and circularity test, 3D model with material removal and collision check, user screens for the PLC.

Path planner

Jerk-limited look-ahead, 5-axis gantry simulation and benchmark; TCP configurations table-table and head-table.

Open and tested

Based on LinuxCNC (GPL v2), simulations for two channels, INDEX G200 (three channels), DMU 60 (5 axes), Deckel FP4 with a PLC changer channel; test suite with over 350 tests and UI tests whose pictures you see in the manual.
